Strategically Managing AIDS Response Together in the Workplace (SMARTWork)

The Strategically Managing AIDS Responses Together in the Workplace (SMARTWork) program is an international effort created to mitigate the impact of HIV/AIDS within the labor force by reducing the rate of new infections and ensuring the protection of human rights for individuals affected by, and infected with, HIV/AIDS. The program analyzes the current workplace environment in each country and creates a multi-sectoral advisory board to promote and build sustainable partnerships between businesses, labor representatives, and government in order to generate a collective a response to HIV/AIDS at local and national levels. SMARTWork provides technical assistance to support stakeholders in the development and implementation of workplace HIV/AIDS programs and policies, along with developing resources and networks related to workplace HIV/AIDS prevention education programs, policy development, counseling and testing and referral to care and treatment.
