National Business Coalition Suriname

Targeting the private sector in Suriname, this project aims to establish a National Business Coalition in order to assist the private sector in its response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic. PharmAccess will develop information, education, and communication (IEC) materials; conduct capacity building by organizing workshops for human resource managers, company doctors, and nongovernmental organizations (NGOs); introduce and implement an HIV/AIDS policy for participating companies; and evaluate the health insurance situation. Initially the project will focus on large companies. The aim is to have HIV/AIDS policy in place in the seven largest companies at the end of 2006, hopefully encouraging smaller businesses to join as well.
