Joint Guidance Note from WHO and PSP-One
WHO and PSP-One issued a joint guidance note on private sector provision of reproductive health and family planning services. The note is based on a widely-attended meeting co-sponsored by PSP-One and WHO in 2006 entitled, Public Policy and Franchising Reproductive Health: Current Evidence and Future Directions. Following the meeting PSP-One and WHO issued a joint Guidance Note that encourages Ministries of Health to work with the private sector to address reproductive health and family planning challenges. The Note is one of WHO’s first policy statements emphasizing the private sector’s role and potential. The Note has been widely distributed and cited, including at the Scaling Up FP/MCH Best Practices in Asia and the Near East technical meeting held in Bangkok in September 2007.
