Jordan Private Sector Project for Women's Health Continues to Develop its Program for Quality Assurance in Women’s Health Topics

The Jordan Private Sector Project for Women’s Health (PSP Jordan) continues to develop its program for quality assurance in women’s health topics with a certification program for private physicians in Jordan.

To date, PSP Jordan has provided training, orientation to quality standards, assessment and certificates for 277 private clinic doctors in Family Planning and 134 in Clinical Breast Exam. PSP Jordan will certify 150 female physicians in Reproductive Tract Infections/Sexually Transmitted Infections (RTI/STI) in FY2007 and develop guidelines for managing menopause in FY2008. These four subject areas represent the major health concerns seen by private women physicians in Jordan. Self-assessment will be part of the approach of certification, as well as successful completion of clinical skills tasks, review of case studies and clinic facility assessment.

Doctors successfully passing the certification requirements in each subject are given a certificate from the Jordan Medical Council and the names are announced in local newspapers. The certification program is supported by a larger training program through the Jordan Medical Council for Continuing Medical Education of doctors.
