PSP for Women's Health Jordan Addresses Domestic Violence Against Women
PSP for Women’s Health Jordan, led by Abt Associates, has developed a strategy to address Domestic Violence Against Women over the next four years as a health intervention. The project will focus on the training of private doctors in detection and referral for suspected cases of violence, in conjunction with a parallel process of training within public hospitals.
In addition, PSP will identify and fund several specialized NGO’s to provide outreach, counseling and referral for women who express concern about their safety in their homes. Finally, there will be advocacy and media support to reduce the public acceptance of domestic violence. The latest survey shows that 47% of the public agrees that a woman can be beaten for insulting her husband.
